About Jessica

Jessica-Through-the-Door-Counseling

I grew up near the beach in a small town on the coast of Oregon, and after my parents divorced, I moved with my mother and brother to Colorado. Like everyone, I had my own set of struggles growing up, and I needed my own therapist to help me with things like working through panic attacks and exploring how to understand and navigate my experiences.

At eighteen, I left home and started to put myself through college. I studied English and minored in psychology. With hard work and determination, I was able to be the first in my family to graduate from a university.

After college, I spent some years working in the environmental design field and later in elementary education, but my life drastically changed after the sudden loss of a close family member. This experience led me back into therapy, where I again engaged in some intense therapeutic work.

The Covid-19 pandemic led me to re-evaluate how I want to spend the next half of my life. As someone who has been intensely involved in the counseling process, I know firsthand how transformative it can be, and I realized how much I wanted to share this experience with others.

Driven by the deep desire to accompany people on their journey of self-discovery, I enrolled in Northwestern University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program. While here, it is my mission to support you in enhancing your connections with yourself and others and in recognizing your inner resilience. I firmly believe that personal growth and learning are ongoing, lifelong processes, and I am immensely grateful for any opportunity to accompany you on your healing journey!

I spend my free time with my partner and our two dogs. We like to walk, camp, watch movies, cook, play games, and travel. We are planning a vow ceremony for the Spring of 2024. Thankfully my journey has led me to a life full of adventure and beauty, with the mountains of Colorado as our backyard. I look forward to getting to know more about your journey and the life you are wanting to create!
